Jim quickly sized the effort and put together a proposal for a wireless architecture. Jim created specification complete with flow diagrams and sized the effort at about 12 weeks of development. Jim first created a Visual C based implementation of his code to prove the algorithms and then implemented the code on our 32 bit embedded platform. He was able to quickly get his code up and working, and were able to establish wireless communication. Once we got the basic communications working, we realized that there were missing pieces of functionality that needed to be developed, and we expanded the scope of Jim’s activities to include a flash driver and bootloader.
high quality, well-structured code
Jim was able to deliver high quality, well-structured code to us within the deadlines we mutually agreed upon. Once we got the basic system working, we uncovered numerous problems with the wireless Radio and low level drivers that we supplied by our semiconductor vendor. Jim was able to quickly debug these issue, and found and fixed bugs in the third party driver. Later once we got systems in the field, we found additional issues. We provided system level logs and Jim was able to analyze these logs and modified the communication algorithms to reduce communications failures from the 1-2% range to being practically non-existent.
